CHAPEL HILL - Summer is essentially over here for Carolina Athletics, as training camps for fall sports are in full swing and classes are set to start in under 10 days.  There's plenty of Tar Heel action to keep up with, so recap it all with the GoHeels Weekly Primer.


GENERAL:  A record 329 Tar Heels earned spots on the ACC Academic Honor Roll for 2012-13 ... Forty-two Tar Heel Olympic Sport events will be broadcast on TV and online this fall.


MEN'S BASKETBALL:  Adam Lucas wrote about 10 NBA games Tar Heel fans shouldn't miss in 2013-14 ... Carolina will play three times on ESPN's Big Monday next season ... Former head coach Dean Smith won the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Thursday ... Lucas writes that it was a fitting honor ... Check out this samplying of reactions to the announcement.

MEN'S SOCCER:  Carlos Somoano's recruiting class for this fall is highly ranked nationally ... The Tar Heels will be on TV eight times this season.

WOMEN'S SOCCER:  The broadcast schedule for 2013 is set.

TRACK & FIELD:  Former UNC stars Shalane Flanagan and Vikas Gowda began taking part in the World Championships on Saturday ... Flanagan took eighth place in the 10,000 meters.

VOLLEYBALL:  The Tar Heels announced a portion of their TV and webcast schedule for the 2013 season.
