Williams Heads To Houston
Chapel Hill, N.C. - North Carolina offensive tackle Brennan Williams was selected by the Houston Texans with the 27th pick in the third round (89th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
"I'm excited for Brennan and we're proud of his accomplishments," said head coach Larry Fedora. "He's a good kid who has the size, strength and mobility to be a very good player at the next level."
Combined with the selection of Jonathan Cooper in the first round, this is the first time since 1985 that two Tar Heel offensive linemen have been picked in the same year of the NFL Draft.
A native of West Roxbury, Mass., Williams earned honorable mention All-ACC accolades for his play in 2012 despite missing the final four games with shoulder surgery. In Carolina's win over Virginia Tech, Williams had a career-high 23 knockdown blocks to help the Tar Heels rush for 339 yards.
Williams' father, Brent, played in the NFL from 1986-93 with New England, Seattle and the New York Jets.
